South Australian members can access free books, DVDs, CDs and magazines from over 130 SA Libraries using their library card. Non members with appropriate identification can join at the library.

Membership enables you to place holds on items and have them delivered to the library of your choice. Borrowers are notified when items arrive via SMS or email.

View our catalogue online here and enter your library card number and PIN, both of which can be verified by the Burra Library Staff.

You are welcome to browse our collection of Adult Fiction, Non Fiction, Large Print, Magazines, DVDS, Fiction and Picture Books. We also have internet access, Wi-Fi and are able to assist with photocopying or faxing.

Local History resources are held within the Auhl Local History Room of the library. The Genealogical Society of South Australia Births, Deaths & Marriages Indexes, Burra Burial Register and Burra School Admissions are housed here along with various other resources that may assist with family history research.

Please phone or email the library in advance to arrange access to the Auhl Local History Room and its resources as items require retrieval from the archives and part time staff are not always available to assist with research. Charges apply for people using the service who reside outside the Regional Council of Goyder.

The Burra History Group has a very informative website here, as well as an interesting photo-graphic display of Local History at the Burra Town Hall. This is open daily 11am - 3pm and admission is by donation.

The National Library of Australia has an extensive collection of digitised newspapers here. This is a valuable resource for locating historical information, family notices, obituaries, photographs and articles.

Our library is located within the centre of the Burra Community School accessible via Smelts Road, the second entrance on the left after Paxton Terrace. Parking is available in the car park at the top of the school.
