Miss Mabel Cottage

Miss Mabel Cottage has been lovingly restored in old world country style and is a great place for couples and friends to stay while visiting Burra.

The Cottage has 3 bedrooms, 2 queens and a twin room. The well equipped kitchen has an adjacent dining and lounge area with a wood fire heater and TV. Then there is a separate formal lounge, with piano, the perfect place to relax and read or tinkle the ivories. Or you could play one of the complimentary board games.

In the bathroom you will find that quintessential cottage feature, an old claw foot bath that has also been beautifully restored. Why not treat yourself to a soak and unwind in here? There is also a separate shower so no climbing in and out of the tub if you don’t want.

In the garden you will find the pergola – an ideal spot to relax with your morning coffee and read the paper. Here you will also find the BBQ so you can cook your bacon and eggs al fresco or perhaps a succulent steak for dinner.

Your self contained stone miner’s cottage is in a quiet side street on the northern edge of the heritage town of Burra. There are two adjoining cottages in the Retreat

Each cottage has two bedrooms normally configured as two single beds in each bedroom BUT one pair of beds can be joined together to make a king size bed with at least 24 hours notice.
The spacious lounge has a slow combustion log fire. Your cottage has ducted reverse cycle air conditioning.
The cottage has a modern bathroom and up to date kitchen. This is a self-catering cottage. Provisions for light Continental breakfasts are supplied. There is a well stocked IGA supermarket in Burra that is open 9am to 5.30pm weekdays and in the mornings on weekends

Hillside Cottage

‘Hillside Cottage,’ was built in 1864 and is a heritage, stone miners cottage. Surrounded by verandas which overlook the established gardens full of lavender, roses, herbs, grape vines, fruit trees and spreading lawns. The three bedrooms in this beautiful cottage can sleep up to six, in either, the double room, double plus single room or the downstairs cellar with two single beds. With two open fire places, plus gas heating and reverse cycle air-conditioning, comfort is provided all year round. This romantic cottage contains two comfy and cosy sitting areas with a parlour and a music/reading room (Website hidden by Airbnb) The country style kitchen has room for all, with an electric stove and is fully equipped for your stay. An inside bathroom contains a shower next to the bath while the second outside bathroom is hidden amongst the garden. This secret space with its beautiful claw bath, shower and heated pebble floor beckons you to enjoy it and relax. The enclosed garden with its many outdoor seating areas will invite you to rest awhile and enjoy the views. Whether you are looking for a cosy hideaway or a marvellous base for adventure trips, ‘Hillside Cottage,’ is well positioned. A ten minute walk will take you to the Burra town centre, a two minute walk will allow you to join the Heysen Trail and only a five minute walk will show you the views of Burra, from the lookout. Griffiths Cottage

This quaint little stone cottage is quintessential Burra and like so much else in Burra is a real step back in time. Overlooking pretty gardens it has 2 bedrooms and is great for Mum and Dad and 2 kids. You could never describe it as spacious but it has all the charm and comfort you need for a short break in the country.
The slow combustion wood fire keeps you toasty warm in winter and there is air-conditioning for summer too.

Emma Tiver Heritage Cottage

Built in 1856, Tiver’s Row of six identical cottages originally provided accommodation for Cornish copper miners working the famous Burra Burra Mines.
The blue-stone buildings are now self-contained BnB cottages for those visiting this heritage listed town.
Emma Tiver Heritage Cottage is number 12 and has two bedrooms, cosy lounge with open fireplace and delightful country kitchen. The decor is quaint and cutesy with lots of memorabilia and knick knacks.
Your bathroom has slate floors and a shower, hand basin and toilet.
