Nature Discovery Day
Nature Discovery Day: Rangeland Grasslands
Join expert ecologists in Burra to discover what makes the native grasslands in the Northern and Yorke region tick.
Did you know that a high-quality grassland can be as diverse as a rainforest?
The iron-grass natural temperate grasslands (INTG) of South Australia are listed as critically endangered with only a few small areas remaining.
These grasslands are a community of plants dominated by grasses and are home to amazing birds, reptiles and insects, plus wildflowers such as herbs, lilies and orchids.
The Nature Discovery Day is a unique opportunity to unlock their mysteries with expert ecologists, including:
- Nicola Barnes, Grassland Ecologist from the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board
- Dr Michael Nash, Applied Invertebrate Ecologist
- Mike Gardner, Professor in Biodiversity/Ecology, Flinders University
- Dr Amy Slender, Flinders University
The Northern and Yorke Landscape Board, together with the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board and the Mid North Grasslands Working Group is hosting a full day of grasslands learning.
Come along to the workshops to learn about the role our native grasslands play in our landscape.
Lunch, tea and coffee provided.
The day will finish with a grassland walk, led by Milie Nicholls of the Mid North Grasslands Working Group. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for walking.
