Nestled deep in a magical garden, the freestanding Gardenhouse on George combines Burra’s famed rustic charm with the cosiness of a traditional European Gardenhouse but with all the modern comforts.
Your host Will has worked closely with local master craftsmen and carpenters to carefully repurpose an old shed and turn it into a comfortable and harmonious retreat with 19th century design features such as pressed tin ceilings, exposed beams, French doors, slate floors, and old timey lighting, giving you shed loads of South Australian country charm.
Fronted by a generous veranda with outdoor seating for drinks or dining, the Gardenhouse on George is accessed via a private gate and situated well back from the street. The mature garden surrounding the Gardenhouse combines natives, Mediterranean plantings, and some European standards, perfect for strolling or finding a special spot in which to stop, relax, and unwind.
The Gardenhouse has everything you need for a short, medium or long-term stay, including a comfy queen sized bed (with an electric heating pad in winter), a cozy living area with both cable (antenna) and internet TV, high speed internet, a luxurious bathroom, a kitchenette suitable for preparing modest meals, a charming vintage table, a large refrigerator, ample storage space, and a split AC/heating unit that will provide consistent comfort year round.
