The Town of Burra is rich with mining heritage and most of its 1840 legacy is still intact. The surest way to get the whole picture is to purchase a Burra Heritage Passport, which gives you instant access to see, hear and touch the past.
You will be joined by Johnny Green, the miners mascot, as you explore the townships key sites. Using your mobile phone or tablet, Johnny will guide you through each of the intriguing sites on the passport all free of charge.
The Passport allows you access to eleven locked sites, including the Monster Mine area, Redruth Gaol, the underground Unicorn Brewery cellars and the Dugouts. Free entry to the Bon Accord Mine Museum during their opening hours is included with the cost of the passport! However please note that the museum is currently not open on Wednesdays. The “Discover Historic Burra” book details 46 historic sites over an 11 km driving trail. You can purchase the key from the Burra And Goyder Visitor Information Centre during opening hours seven days a week. For the kids we have the Scavenger Hunt sheet which will keep them occupied and looking for the answers!
